How to measure for your Curtain Rod

We use a Modular Design for our Curtain Rods.  All the components fit together so you use a “Mix and Match” method to select your personal design.

All our products are produced from Aluminium or Steel to a high standard.

There are 3 colours available including unpainted Aluminium for your DIY project and a wide variety of Finials for every taste.

Our Modular Curtain Rods can be cut to the exact size you need for your window dressings.

The following steps will guide you through selecting your Curtain Rod.

Alternatively send us your window size and Finial choice and we will work it out for you.

Please remember we will check your order for you when packing and contact you if we feel we need to confirm anything with you.

For most windows you will require:

  • 2 Finials for the rod
  • 2 or 3 Brackets (longer rods require a centre bracket)
  • A selection of rods to get your correct length (remember the join must be on the middle bracket for lengths over 3m)
  • Optional – 2 Tie-back arms and 2 finials to match

19mm Rods

You can make up rods to a maximum length of 6m using this system,

however we do not recommend longer Curtain Rods than 4m.

While the Rods are super strong 2mm wall thickness steel they may sag over the longer lengths.

How to choose a rod length.

  • Measure the width of the window
  • Add 20cm for curtain overlap (10cm per side)
  • Select the best combination of rod lengths to use. If you need to join two, plan to have the join in the center over a Bracket
  • Rods available in 200cm and 300cm
  • The 19mm rods can be cut to length and joined easily

           Example 1

  • Window Measurement of 150cm
  • Add 20cm for overlap
  • Total length required 170cm
  • Use 1 x 200cm rod cut to 170cm
  • Two Brackets needed

           Example 2

  • Window Measurement of 350cm
  • Add 20cm for overlap
  • Total length required 370cm
  • Use 2 x 200cm rods – Cut each to 185cm and join in the middle over a bracket.
  • Three Brackets needed

25mm Rods

You can make up rods to a maximum length of 6m using this system,

however we do not recommend longer Curtain Rods than 4m.

While the Rods are super strong 1.5mm wall thickness steel they may sag over the longer lengths.

  • The 25mm rods can be cut to length and joined easily

           Example 1

  • Window Measurement of 150cm
  • Add 20cm for overlap
  • Total length required 170cm
  • Use 1 x 200cm rod cut to 170cm
  • Two Brackets needed

           Example 2

  • Window Measurement of 250cm
  • Add 20cm for overlap
  • Total length required 270cm
  • Use 1 x 300cm cut to 270cm
  • Three Brackets needed

 Example 3

  • Window Measurement of 420cm
  • Add 20cm for overlap
  • Total length required 480cm
  • Use 2 x 300cm rods – Cut each to 240cm and join in the middle over a bracket.
  • Three Brackets needed

 Brackets

Two brackets required for rods less than 2,5m long

Three brackets required for rods 2,5m or longer

If you plan to use a heavy fabric for the curtains use 3 brackets

  • For Example 1 – 2 brackets required (less than 250cm)
  • For Example 2 – 3 brackets required (200cm or longer)

 Finials

  • 2 finials for a single rod.
  • If you want a double rod (lace curtain) double the rods and order 2 “End Stop” Finials for the second rod.
  • If you want Tie-Backs remember to add matching Finials for these.

 Tie Backs

Usually 2 Tie-Back Arms are required.

The Finials screw onto the Tie-Back Arms.

The Tie-Back Arms do not come with Finials so please remember to order a Finial for each Tie-Back Arm. (unless you are ordering a complete Combo)

Use the Short Tie-Back Arm for large, longer Finials,

and the Long Tie-Back Arm for smaller, round Finials.

The Slimline Tie-Back Arm cannot be used with the Scroll or Shepherd’s Crook Finials as they do not fit past the arm. Please contact us if you would like these and we will make a plan!
